i was thinking of the movie final fantasy the spirits within and was wondering how does this movie go with the rest of the final fantasy stuff apart from having docter Cid in it.

I honestly haven't seen it, I was going to but a friend told me not to bother. She wasn't fond of it at all and said that it had no links to other games. I think it's just a totally new setting and storyline which had no relation to the games. I've seen it around at stores on DVD but I just haven't been bothered to get it.
